MARSHALL CALLAWAY

I’ve been a member of the TCA Corvette club for several years. I have owned nine Corvettes over the past 53 years and I currently own a 2021 Z51 coupe. I developed interest in cars at an early age, helping my dad with maintenance on our family vehicles. Growing up in the muscle car era I was awestruck by the C2 Corvette, especially the big blocks. My first Corvette was a 14,000-mile 1965 coupe purchased in 1971 and owned for the next 25 years. Beverly and I met street racing in 1971 and quickly became friends. Life events took us in different directions but fate brought us back together in 1997. Over the years, we have owned 13 Corvettes. Drive and dines and the TCA car show are the events I like best.

As a lifelong enthusiast for all things automotive, I engaged in sports-car rallies, drag racing, and sports-car races in Mid-Ohio while I was in high school. I met my wife, Beth, in New Mexico while serving in the Air Force. At the time I was driving a ’68 Camaro I had modified with flared fenders, Corvette side exhaust and a 301ci solid lifter SBC with 11.5:1 compression. I finally got my first Corvette (2000 Mag red convertible), joined the TCA in 2002, and currently have a 2012 Super Sonic Blue Grand Sport coupe sharing shop space with my ’34 Plymouth coupe hot rod (owned 48 years), ’66 Shelby Mustang clone and my current build project – a ’33 Ford roadster with a 348ci Chevy. Having retired in 2014 as a manufacturing industry executive, I now devote my time to family, project cars and motorsports events. Great cars, wonderful friends and memorable activities!

I joined TCA in March of 2019 right after purchasing my first Corvette in over 30 years. Over the years I have been fortunate to own four Corvettes, the first being a 1985 red coupe, 1987 medium blue convertible, 2007 yellow coupe, 2015 yellow coupe, and my current 2023 accelerate yellow coupe.

My love for Corvette started in the 5th grade with the 1963 split-window Stingray. So much so, that for a class project, I designed a hotel and named it the Stingray Hotel. TCA has such a great variety of activities besides the Open Car Show, but my favorites are the Drive and Dines. I was born in Long Beach, California, attended Cal Poly Pomona, and have had my own Architecture practice since 1984. I  look forward to serving and getting to know all of the members in my OAL group.

When I was four years old, I used to amaze my parents by being able to identify the makes of all the cars that we saw on the road.  Ever since then, I have loved cars.  I have owned Porsches, Lexus, Mercedes, Datsun, Toyota, Thunderbirds, 50s hot rod Chevy and Pontiac.  My current 2007 C6 Corvette coupe is my one and only Corvette so far.  My wife Jane and I have been TCA members for more than 10 years.  In TCA, I enjoy car shows, drive and dines, and sports car races at COTA.  TCA has something for all interests and very friendly people.

Professionally, I am a retired Emeritus Professor of the University of Texas Health Science Center.  I was a clinical microbiologist there for 41 years.  I had patient care duties, a research lab, and taught Medical and dental students, residents and fellows.  It was a difficult transition to retirement, but now it feels good.

My wife, Teresa, and I joined TCA in January 2019 before permanently moving to Mystic Shores on the north side of Canyon Lake in December 2019. After participating in our first, major club event, the 25th NCM Anniversary Caravan to Bowling Green, KY, I was hooked on the club, cars and people! Being an ‘anything-car/motorcycle-related-driving-racing-enthusiast’ from a very young age, I longed for the day when I’d own my first, true, American-made sports car…our new 2017 black Grand Sport became a reality in May 2017. Teresa and I do our best to participate in as many TCA events as possible…from local ‘drive and dines’ to overnight events such as Corvettes & Colors in Telluride Colorado, one of our absolute favorites!

In 2007 I was working at Freddie’s, and the club had an event that stopped there where I met Mary Hail. She had me sit in her corvette and I went home that evening and told my husband, Michael, we needed to get a corvette! We looked at them on a computer and, I didn’t know it at the time, but he was letting me build the corvette of my dreams and he surprised me with it on December 2007, a day after our anniversary. We’ve been married 32 years now and we’ve been members of TCA since February 2008. We’ve owned a 2003 torch red ZO6, and my baby, a 2008 atomic orange convertible. My favorite TCA events are car shows where I get to talk with people who like cars. This is where I learn the most on how to detail my baby! I also like the drive and dine events, after all, that is how I was introduced to corvettes.

I am a luxury custom home builder in the Greater San Antonio area and absolutely love what I do. I have had many corvettes over the years and currently drive a 2023 70th Anniversary HTC. My wife, Nyna, and I have a blended family of six kids with just two remaining at home. I have been blessed with two lovely daughters. I joined TCA to spend more time meeting like-minded folks. The people in this group are fantastic and genuine and it has been a pleasure getting to know them. We look forward to meeting and getting to know more of you in the months and years to come. It’s my pleasure to serve you - feel free to reach out to me anytime.

My journey with cars began at a young age working alongside my dad. Fast forward to today, and my love for the iconic Corvette has only deepened. A special chapter in this journey involves my wife, Sarah. Our paths serendipitously crossed when she noticed my 2017 Grand Sport at a party. She asked if she could take it for a spin, so I tossed her the keys and off she went. When she returned, I told her to get in the passenger seat and then I took her for a “real” drive. In the midst of cruising, engaging in spontaneous donuts in a church parking lot, and witnessing her immediate response of joy and laughter throughout the entire ride, it became unmistakably clear – she was the one. Fast-forward a year or so and we are now both club members and enjoying our new C8 corvette. Beyond the glossy sheen or the immaculate tailpipes of the car show, we cherish the genuine connections formed with fellow Corvette enthusiasts. Here's to the road ahead!

I've worked as a software engineer for the last 25 years. My dad got me addicted to cars going to the Chicago Auto Show every year in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. The first car I bought at age 16 was an '87 IROC Camaro. Owned a few F-Bodies during my high school and college years, then a 2005 GTO. My wife, Hayley, and I were married in Nassau back in 2016. Our first Corvette was a 7-speed 2015 C7 Stingray Convertible in Night Race Blue. We're on our second Corvette now - a 2023 Stingray HTC in Elkhart Lake Blue with black top. We've been members since 2022, but we were introduced to the crew during the caravan to the Corvette Museum for the 25th anniversary in 2019. We look forward to meeting and interacting with you all!

I have loved cars since spending summer weekends in the late ‘60s at the Oswego Drag Raceway in Illinois. But my one true love was always the Corvette. I bought my first Corvette, a 1975 Silver C3 coupe, in 1979. I sold that car in 1982 to finance my trip to Alaska where I met my husband, Gary. When we first met, he mentioned that he had a 1969 Corvette in Houston. I knew he was the man for me! We presently own a 2017 Z06 Quicksilver Convertible. We have driven on the track at the Texas Motor Speedway in Dallas and in 2019 we ran the Big Bend Open Road Race. Gary and I relocated from Houston to Boerne in 2021 and immediately joined the TCA. I have hosted the 2022 and 2023 SJRC Christmas Breakfast, serve on the TCA Boerne Car Show committee and chair the TCA Marketing Committee.
